Today Kitt and I went for an amazing walk. We walked up to a resorts park called The Cloisters at one end and the Ocean Beach at the other. It is a beautiful place of stone pillars, sculptures, and walking flags. We arrived at the beach at sunset, and watched the turquoise waves roll in under a nearly full moon. The light was that wonderful golden evening sun that gives everything a Midas bath to come out richer on the eyes. Then we walked back through the caves along the Atlantis aquariums. They have quite a few rays in that tank. It was a wonderful loop.
Tomorrow we might sleep out in the Intrepid with the hatches open to the moonlight and breezes. There is a double bed in it, so we can cuddle all night too. On our day off on Monday we slept late, and then wandered over to Atlantis. We sat in a huge hot tub of saltwater with cool rain beating down on our heads and sometimes upturned faces. That was wonderfully relaxing. We wandered along the ocean beaches and saw the new Zebra sharks in the much too shallow pool for quarantine. It is amazing to see all of these creatures I’ve never seen before, but at the same time some of the magic is definitely gone because the encounters are forced, not spontaneous—encroaching in their habitat, but then being held captive to be on demand for viewing in our habitat. Still, I am really glad they have no mammals, only fish and mollusks and the like, and it is magical to be listening to live piano music and watching rain drops on the surface of a pool from underneath, while scores of schools of fishes glide by and peer at you. Vibrant living art. It is neat to think that stingrays can see my electromagnetic impression.
