Technicolour T

I remember when I first noticed you.

We: one hundred strong, in Legal Process.
Me: bored out of my skull
checking out classmates
wondering how law school
would fit on me.

You smiled at me from across the room,
a smile so big I thought you had to be stoned.
You had designs upon me from the start, my friend.
Amused, no doubt, by my silly antics
and convention-be-damned persona.

You lured me with that smile, that benevolent exposure,
And hooked me with your breadth.
Lacking desire to change me,
you did so nonetheless.

I was cocky back then;
excited and bombastic at my growing ability
to see shades of grey where absolutes once roamed.
But I’d forgotten the role friends played
in unfettering my mind.
You, T, put me straight,
you showed me more:
there are colours beyond the grey.
