The Glove
Theresa is a very close friend of my sister, Susan Blair, and a special bond was formed because of a simple black wool glove with fake leopard fur trim. It all started when Susan's daughter, Trisha, and I had spotted the pair of gloves at The Bay in Vancouver - we saw humour in them and had to have them. This was in August of 1997.
When we got back to Victoria, Theresa happened to be over at my sister's house visiting and Trisha and I were showing them what we had bought in Vancouver. Well . . . when the gloves came out of the bag, Theresa immediately grabbed one of them and put it on and proceeded to wear it for the rest of the night. We would forget about it and then in the middle of a conversation or while reaching for a drink, there would be Theresa with her elegant, black gloved hand with the ridiculous leopard fur trim. We all joined in, each taking a turn with The Glove.
It became a huge source of laughter and has continued to this day that each of us will, at totally unexpected moments, whip out a black gloved hand - with that leopard fur trim. The Glove even went to work with Theresa and Susan at Gordon Wilson's office and would appear at the most unusual moments to great howls of laughter. From us anyway.
The Glove is in my sister's house now - we always know just where it is - it will always be a source of laughter and wonder to us when we see it from now on. It represents Theresa's joy and her willingness to make great fun out of such a simple thing. It was something the four of us shared, a silly little thing, but . . . she would understand!
We will miss you Theresa ...
Much Love, Cindy Oram and Trisha BlairReturn to the site home page
