Theresa

We have notes from her in our email inbox from Ft Lauderdale, and from Barbados. In this electronic way she is still quite present, and I can’t believe she is gone.

I am sure everyone has Theresa stories - she she was too bright, quick, and quirky not to generate such things. One helps me to explain my work to people I was in the legislature with my Minister, through the painful 2nd reading of a bill, and endless (it seemed) detailed questions from Gordon Wilson (then of the opposition). After what seemed like hours, a parliamentary messenger brings ME a note (I, who am faceless and voiceless in the Committee!) I unfold it to read "Are you having fun with my boss?" signed Theresa it was she feeding all the (damnably difficult) questions to Gordon, to which I was frantically scribbling answers for the Minister!

My other ‘proxy’ experience with Theresa was seeing her wearing, at different Galas, various of my antique clothes she was stunning in a purple velvet 30’s number, and a later year cut a swathe wearing a 1940s nightie she gave them the night out such clothes deserve.

When I heard she had died, I was so sorry for her family, for Kitt, for everyone whose lives she enriched (including mine). And so glad that she lived her short life so fully excelling at school, travelling, committing herself to relationships, exploring the possible (and sometimes the impossible).
